What is the best straightener for unruly hair?

My hair is curly. It's thick. It's wavy. It's outrageous. I'm white, but have often been asked if I'm mixed with something because of my hair. It's a little past my shoulders and when ever I straighten it, it's "straight" but thick. And then it poofs up the instant I meet humidity. Living in FL, well, it's bound to happen. I've heard of the chi and some others but want to know from people with hair like mine what works best. I know these things are expensive, so I want to make sure I invest in the best. Thanks so much :]]

What is the best straightener for unruly hair?

Wow, I have the same problem!! Lol... When people meet me, the first thing they ask is "Is that hair fake, or is one of your parents half black??". I swear, every time i leave the house a swarm of little old people come up to me and start touching my head "Oohh honey your hair is so pretty! Were did you get it done??" lol. It drives me crazy!! I hate my hair!!

Lol.

Anyway...

I've found that it doesn't exactly matter what BRAND of straightener you use, just that it has these features:

1. A WIDE ceramic plate [over 2.5 inces] for the speed.

2. A temperature that reaches at least, if not over 450 degrees.

3. A button that releases a bit of water, or prefferrably conditioner onto the hair while you straighten to keep it from drying out.

4. Removable/Switchable plates that allow you to create waves.

Ok... While I'm here, I mighnt as well give you a bit of advice to minimize the poof.

Pick up some of these AMAZING products... (the ones i have best luck with... here:

http://www.redken.com/yourhair/proc.cfm?...

I love the smooth down series... Everything in it works wonders!

I swear, Redken is the only thing I use.

[no, i'm not working for redken... they just rock]

2. The night before you straighen your hair, soak and comb your hair about an hour before you go to sleep. Immediately before you go to bed, Comb your hair again Pull your hair into a tight bun on the top of your head, or Braid it... ( but pull hard!). Try both and see which one works better. But, for both, pull it so tight that you cant see much curl on the top of of your head. Put in some whatever styling product you use then- make sure it's reached every part of your head... all the way through the hair, not just on the top layer. Also part your hair however you want it the next day.

This will make your hair less curly when you wake up, and easier to straighten.

3.Don't wash your hair that morning... Just straighten your hair.... but make sure it's not TOO straight... ( I always do waves with curlers because Long hair that frizzes easily will look ugly and ignored at the tips)

4. Spray this stuff on after your'e done...

http://www.redken.com/products/displayPr...

And if you decide to keep it curly.... this rocks:

Good luck... And i feel your hair related pain!

What is the best straightener for unruly hair?

people say chi but i know a better one its a babyliss pro

What is the best straightener for unruly hair?

Idon't have curly hair, but a straigtener that really works is CHi brand. You can buy it at Ulta or a local beauty or hair salon. Be sure to buy after or before straightening cream. It might help!!

What is the best straightener for unruly hair?

blow-dry

What is the best straightener for unruly hair?

the wet to staright starightner

What is the best straightener for unruly hair?

Get a CHI! Those things are awesome, I have really thick wavy hair and my CHI gets it board straight and it lays down (no flyaways) and it dosent grow in the humidity!

What is the best straightener for unruly hair?

i went to a class for hair straighting and i did see the ionic straiting done .

It was amazing !! the person having it done had very kinky curl but when it was done it was smooth and silkier!!

I can't say were you will find a salon in FL. w/someone who does this but look around it is well worth it .Just remember this is permanent , it has to grow out !!

What is the best straightener for unruly hair?

i also use a chi, and i'm happy with it, but i'd say the straightener is only part of the problem. next time you get your hair cut, i'd ask your stylist to thin it out some to make it less "poofy" and more manageable. there's also a chemical treatment you can get that permanently (well, for six months or so), chemically straightens your hair. it isn't good for your hair, nor is it cheap, but it works.

What is the best straightener for unruly hair?

go to the salon and ask them to make a permanent straightened for you, ( it is some thing like perm, but straight hair instead of curl them )

What is the best straightener for unruly hair?

Chi works wonders!

How can you soften your hair and keep it straight without using a straightener?

my hair gets soo frizzy after i shower, and it won't stay straight (which is my natural hair style.. or it was my natural hair =[...) should i stop tie-ing up my hair? curling my hair?

How can you soften your hair and keep it straight without using a straightener?

this happens to my hair ALL the time, and it makes me SO freakin' mad. all i do is use some lotion. make sure u dont put 2 much if ur hair is greesy like mine. but this will take away ANY fly aways and Frizzyness and curls! Good Luck閳?br>

i would reccomend using a non scented lotion. but u can find some lotions that smell really good in hair, so u could use those. i use Malibu Hemp lotion it smells tropical. its in a BIG brown (see through) bottle

How can you soften your hair and keep it straight without using a straightener?

heres a tip!

when you get out of the shower, blow dry your hair and when its dry, use a smoothing serum (try aveda.com) or ask your stylist for one! it smooths your hair and makes it extra soft!

%26lt;3

How can you soften your hair and keep it straight without using a straightener?

just use a little quantum of hair remover, and hold the other end of your hair. now take shower. do not worry about tir-ing ,cutting.problem solved.

How can you soften your hair and keep it straight without using a straightener?

Wash your hair as usual, and towel dry, before adding some straightening serum. I use Loreal one, the one in the pink bottle, but only use a small walnut sized blob, and apply to the ends of your hair, not the roots because that makes it greasy. Then blowdry your hair as you would normally straighten it, by tying up most of your hair and doing it layer by layer, and using a brush to keep it straight while you're blowdrying.

How can you soften your hair and keep it straight without using a straightener?

oh ya that happens to me too. i just use my fav hand lotion after drying with a hairdryer or towel, after a shower. just take some on your fingertips not much and sweep your hands through ur hair.its makes it shiny and nonfrizzy

I have thick&layered hair. length - about middle of my boobs. what straightener will get it real

I have sideswept bangs, %26amp; i just want a nice professional straightener that will get my layered thick hair straight. any ideas or brands? your help will be really appreciated!!! :)

I have thick%26amp;layered hair. length - about middle of my boobs. what straightener will get it really straight?

I am a hair stylist and have tried all the irons CHI, GHD, SEDU,Corlioliss. I thought they were all pretty much the same. Then a few weeks ago I was at a fashion show out here in LA. I was backstage doing the models hair and one of the stylists asked me to try their new iron.I was floored once I tried it! It took me half the time to do her hair than normal, as well as the shine was unbelievable!! I had to know where she got this. I found mine at http://www.phibeauty.com and here is the best part, only 79.99!!!!!! I did some research and figured out why theirs is so much better. There plate are not just ceramic, they are also Tourmaline infused. It locks in the hair natural moisture so the hair does not fry out or burn. It stays nice and shiny!!

I have thick%26amp;layered hair. length - about middle of my boobs. what straightener will get it really straight?

It's called CHI.

But, Im warning you, theyre expensive a heck. Theyre salon exclusive. But, trust me, theyll work on ANY hair type.

I use them in my salon.

I have thick%26amp;layered hair. length - about middle of my boobs. what straightener will get it really straight?

Is it going too far when a boy uses a hair straighteners?

a boy in my class was on a ski trip with the school and he was the only bot that brought a hair straighteners, and not even the female teachers that went with them brought one so they all had to borrow it and he got awful slagging because of it!!

is it going too far?

Is it going too far when a boy uses a hair straighteners?

I know it sounds very cliche but there's a reason why the phrase "To each his own" is such a classic. People need to do whatever they need to do to feel good about themselves, especially when it comes to appearance. If that boy really felt like he didn't like his hair as it was and needed to straighten it then I don't think that qualifies as going too far. It may seem a bit weird to you or some other people but consider some of the things that you yourself have probably done in the past (some of which would probably cause a few of your friends to laugh at you if they knew) and cut the guy a little slack.

And this is coming from someone who is known for always overpacking and carrying around way more stuff than necessary. I can say from personal experience that sometimes it's just from want of being the person that people look to for stuff that they need. It's nice to be known as the go-to person. So maybe his annoyance was a bit of a put on.

Is it going too far when a boy uses a hair straighteners?

wowza, and i thought it was bad that my friend only used one shampoo and blow dried..... i guess boys are starting to realize that hair has a big impact on girls sometimes...

Is it going too far when a boy uses a hair straighteners?

it isnt if his hair is frizzy and crazy looking without straightening it!!..If its too long!

Is it going too far when a boy uses a hair straighteners?

Nope... its normal nowadays. Most my guy friends wax legs and chest so....

Is it going too far when a boy uses a hair straighteners?

It's a little vain, but "too far" relative to what?

Is it going too far when a boy uses a hair straighteners?

Why shouldnt he use straightners, most of the boys nowdays use loads that girls tend to use and if he likes to keep himself tidy then good luck to him.

Is it going too far when a boy uses a hair straighteners?

my nephew is 15 nearly 16 and he uses them and his hair looks really good

Is it going too far when a boy uses a hair straighteners?

err yes !

Is it going too far when a boy uses a hair straighteners?

Not really. Some guys are even more vain about their hair and clothes than us girls are!!!! My son takes forever getting ready in the morning cuz he has to shower and do his hair just right- iron his clothes and look just right before he will even think about leaving the house! So guys r pretty secure with themselves when they do this- they dont feel girly at all and most arent. They just care how they look too. Their just doing it for us women!

Is it going too far when a boy uses a hair straighteners?

yes.

Is it going too far when a boy uses a hair straighteners?

No, guys do their hair these days God knows how....if that's the worst he ever does there is nothing to worry about.

Is it going too far when a boy uses a hair straighteners?

no why should it I'm all for equality boys want to look nice just as much as the girls .... :)

What would you consider the best straightener out of your experiences? Hair can't hold curl or

i want one that will damage my hair as little as possible. ive heard that the wet/dry straighteners work good....but that seems like it will damage the hair horribly. My hair cannot hold a curl or stay straight, so I'm looking for something that will possibly do both if you hold it a certain way. Any kind of shampoo or hair product that helps with this will be appreciated too.

What would you consider the best straightener out of your experiences? Hair can't hold curl or stay straight..

I have the same problem, here's what to do.

Products you will need:

1. Permanent Straightener

2. Straightening Gel

3. Thermal Spray

4. Flat Iron

5. Blow Dryer (at least 1875 Watts)

6. A good shampoo and conditioner

1. If you have a Sally Beauty Supply nearby, purchase "Curl Remover", the brand is One n Only. It's a permanent straightener. It's not harsh and they will sell that particular one to anybody, you don't have to be licensed. I use it and it don't fry my hair. They have 3 different formulas, one is normal, one is for if you have color in it and one is for if you have highlights. Make sure you get the right one. It's about $8.00.

2. Also, in their generic line, pick up some "Straightening Gel: Compare to Paul Mitchell Straight Works". It's in a black and white tube. It's about $6.00 and lasts a long time.

3. Pick up some Thermal Spray, it's a must have if you're going to use a flat iron. You will need it to protect your ends.

I don't recommend getting Ion: Heat Protection from Sally Beauty, it's too greasy. They may have something else there. I use the Matrix Sleek Look and I think it's the best. You can get it at Wal-Mart's Smart Style the cheapest, it's about $12.00. They have an off brand version of it at Sally Beauty called Slickline Thermal Iron Smoother, about $7.00. I've never tried it but for a cheaper product, I would say it would be the best you can get.

4. The best flat iron to get is the Paul Mitchell one. It's black and green and will run you about $130.00. It goes to 400 degrees and won't fry your hair as long as you're using thermal spray. If you can't afford it, Sally Beauty has a ceramic one in their generic line that compares to CHI. It's about $50.00 and heats up to 410 degrees. If you have to go with a Wal-Mart one, get a ceramic one. I don't care for Conair products, so I would recommend a Revlon or a Remington.

6. With shampoo and conditioner, you get what you pay for. Stay away from anything that is not sold in a salon and be careful what you buy at Sally Beauty. The only thing I will use at Sally Beauty is Park Avenue SOFT by Naturelle, which is generic for Redken All Soft. I like Matrix Sleek Look and Redken All Soft the best. They can be purchased at a hair salon or the Smart Style at Wal Mart. Matrix is on sale frequently 2 liters for $24.

When you can find a sale like that, you really come out cheaper in the long run when you can get it that way than buying $3 - $5 products because you don't have to use near as much of it and you're getting a larger quantity at a better price.

What to do with these products:

Follow the instructions precisely on the permanent straightener. Repeat every 6 weeks.

Use your shampoo and conditioner, try not to wash your hair everyday. If you smoke like I do, you really have no choice. It's better not to.

When you do wash, put a nickel size amount of the straightening gel in your hair and dry it. Don't brush it while you dry it, only use your finger tips. Brushing it will break it.

After it's dry, it should only need the least bit of straightening with the iron. Spray in the thermal spray, ensuring that you get the roots good, that's the most important part and run the iron through it. You will have to keep adjusting the temp. at first to find what suits you the most.

What would you consider the best straightener out of your experiences? Hair can't hold curl or stay straight..

The Croc straightening Iron is good.

What would you consider the best straightener out of your experiences? Hair can't hold curl or stay straight..

Van de Graff generators.

What would you consider the best straightener out of your experiences? Hair can't hold curl or stay straight..

The best straighteners out there are expensive but effective. Paul Brown is one of the best. Chi's are alright but not as great as they're made out to be. Yes, wet/dry straighteners are alright, but I highly reccomend not using them. There si always a risk of damage.

What would you consider the best straightener out of your experiences? Hair can't hold curl or stay straight..

Chi straighteners.

They are ceramic and won't hurt your hair too badly, but really amazing.

What would you consider the best straightener out of your experiences? Hair can't hold curl or stay straight..

Corioliss

my hair is straight but it has waves in the bottom

this straighner will get rid of the wave while others wont

What would you consider the best straightener out of your experiences? Hair can't hold curl or stay straight..

CHI is the best

What would you consider the best straightener out of your experiences? Hair can't hold curl or stay straight..

I've only used the CHI straightener on my hair, and I love it!

My hair is naturally wavy, and I go to sleep with my hair wet, so it's crazy sometimes when I wake up, but my CHI gets all that out, and it stays straight all day. Also, it doesn't take long. This wouldn't be good for curling your hair, but it works well with the flip out hairstyles (had it...loved it), and with the flip under styles. Takes a little practice though, but not difficult.

My hair is dark, and thick and has a lot of body. I use Visible Changes "Leave it" leave in conditioner...(they changed the name recently though and I can't remember to what)...and I use either Sebastian's "Laminates" gel, or Paul Mitchell's "Super Skinny Serum". I switch back and forth between the products, but I always use a leave in conditioner to help protect my hair from damage. I mix the conditioner and the product in the palm of my hand and then apply it throughout my hair. This method helps me distribute the product evenly throughout my hair. When I did it separately, I would sometimes put too much product in one spot on my head...oops!

If I use no product at all, my hair is a little frizzy, and the straightening doesn't last...that only happened once when I went on vacation and forgot my hair stuff! I didn't want to waste vacation time tracking down product, so I was a poofy headed tourist having a great time and didn't care hahaha...I'll never see any of those people again!!

If you have thin hair, these products might weigh your hair down though...maybe even make it look a little oily...not cute! A stylist should be able to recommend products that are good for your hair type. Ask if they have a return policy on their products. I've tried a lot of products that they recommended, and if it didn't do what they said it would, I returned it!

Hope this helps!

:)

I need a good straightener?

I have crazy thick hair and not all straighteners work for me. I need to know what hair straightener works really well. Please help! I'm tired of always throwing my hair up into a pony tail because if I wear it down my hair poofs way out!!!

I need a good straightener?

I have the same problem as you.

My tips are: Use a ceramic hair straightner. Yuo don't have to spend a fortune on one. The most important thing is that it MUST have a heat setting. Since you hair is thick, you need major heat in order to straighten it. If you get one with an on/off switch, it'll kinda straighten your hair but it'll poof up with the most minimal amount of moisture in the air.

You can let your hair dry naturally and the use the iron, its what i do. Please don't iron your hair wet. You can't even imagine how much that damages your hair.

You can use an anti frizz on your hair after your done ironing so your hair wont frizz up as easily.

Hope this helps!

I need a good straightener?

i use conair and it works fine for me you just need to straighten thin Pisces of your hair which will make it more smother and thiner.

I need a good straightener?

Try the CHI ceramic straightening iron. You can purchase at your local salon and if they have none in stock, one can be ordered for you. They work wonderfully for the curliest of hair. You might want to consider using a straightening balm with it as well for humid days. Redken, CHI and Bed Head make great straightening balms for this.

Good luck

I need a good straightener?

Get a wet to dry straightener ( you can find them anywhere!). Then when you straighten your hair divide it into sections for straightening for best results. As for the poofing, anti frizz products work best on these situations. Try to get a non-greasy product though for natural look.

I need a good straightener?

use a metal one... go for the better brands like philips if u have thick hair.. they shud work.

also make sure u wash ur hair properly. it shud be free from oil. use schwarzkopf iron serum before ironing. after ironing use a hold on cream.

it also depends on the humidity of the place. Thr's nothing u can do to save ur hair from it.

I need a good straightener?

Don't use GHD hair straighteners.

I need a good straightener?

Same problem I have! If I leave my hair down, especially after a shower, I look like a troll doll! Here's what I do:

When hair dries, I use a straightning iron (conair) in small sections, when hair is dry, I use BIOSILK silk therapy, it comes in a small clear bottle with a black cap, then i use TRESEMME shine spray, and after that, PANTENE pro-v style classic hairspray, this is what i do and it works everytime, hope i can help!

I need a good straightener?

Go to Sally's Beauty Supply. They have awesome stuff there. They have one straightener in particular is $32 and it comes with changeable disc, so you can make your hair with a wave or a waffle as well.

I need a good straightener?

I use a CHI It was expensive, but it works great and it last a long time. You should be able to but one form your stylist.

My hair is long, think and wavy and it is stick straight now. love love love it %26lt;3

I need a good straightener?

I would say DO use a GHD... my hair is thick and frizzy and its the only one I have ever tried that works. Just make sure your hair is conditioned well and you use a heat styling defence spray.

I need a good straightener?

http://www.maxiusbeauty.com/

get this straightner excellent i have 2 of them

I need a good straightener?

The best straightener I've ever used was a humectant. It used to be that the only kind available was really expensive ( 11$ for a small bottle of Nexus Humectrus) but these days the Suave company makes a humectant that cost about 2$ for a good size bottle, usually found at Wal-Mart or K-Mart. If you look at the bottle it reads, " Compare to active ingredients in Nexus Humectrus " , so it's the same stuff.

The also make a Sleek shampoo for frizzy or dry hair.

I need a good straightener?

use ghd's!! they are brilliant!! life saviors lol.. i would reccommend getting the thick ghd's as they work really well with thick hair (i have thick hair too and my hair is poker straight when i use these)

they are quite costly, but well worth it!! .. but remember to also use the heat protector that comes with them to prevent ur hair from gettin damaged :)

I need a good straightener?

You can use relaxer or mechanical hot Iron. Or go to hair saloon.

Go to a pharmacy and talk to the works there they will show some products read the label take your time and then pick one at a time and try them, most have shelf life so do not buy them all at once.

Best straightener for coarse hair?

I'm about to buy a straightner. My hair has small curls, it's thick, but still manageable. What brand of straightners are the best (enough heat, hair stays straight for long, etc.)? Preferably suggest brans that have ceramic, please.

Best straightener for coarse hair?

okay this is my speciality i had the same problems most of the time when you buy straightners it will say ceramic on the package you do not want to straighten you hair with a hot comb you can with a ceramic flat iron if you have chemicals in your hair you dont want to put direct heat on it cause it can damage your hair and you might have to get it cut if you do.you can press the roots and flat iron the rest if you want to it will be better but if your black you might want to get it done regularly because you will just sweat it out.so i suggest conair and other popular ceramics.good luck anymore questions abut hair im your girl.

Best straightener for coarse hair?

Conair Instant Heat, Ultra-Hot Ceramic Straightener CS19CS

Best!!!

Best straightener for coarse hair?

you can eaither get conair or remington straightner it depends it maybe cost much but it is good. But i have remington wet2straight and it really straighten my hair try one of those or get the conair with the gold colored metal that heats you hair those work too.

Best straightener for coarse hair?

chi for shure. pricey but the absoulte best. i have long wavy hair and it takes me 10 minutes

to style

Best straightener for coarse hair?

you definitely want one that's ceramic and that heats up to a high temp, like Chi or Hai Stik or Hot Tools. I've got similar hair, and i use a ceramic one that wide barrelled. you'll also want to try using a straightening balm and some anti frizz serum before you blow dry you hair. this will make sure you hair will hold longer.

good luck

Best straightener for coarse hair?

chi. definately.

Best straightener for coarse hair?

the best straightener has to be THE CHI

Best straightener for coarse hair?

A ceramic based iron is the best because they get hotter for you. Below I have provided a link which provides flat irons. I think CHI makes the best

http://www.folica.com/appliances/straigh...

Best straightener for coarse hair?

You will do best to invest in a Chi iron. It's truly amazing. I have seen it take the thickest tiny natural curls to sleek straight hair in minutes. Plus, its ceramic plates help to prevent damage to the hair, and put moisture back into the hair. It's a little on the expensive side, but well worth it. Check on Amazon and Ebay for the best prices. It's the only straightener I've ever seen work as well as it does on coarse ethnic hair. Trust me- you'll LOVE it!

Good luck!

Best straightener for coarse hair?

Chi is the best. I have African American clients and can get their hair perfectly straight, smooth, and shiny. They just love it.

Best straightener for coarse hair?

conair infiniti straitener i tworks wonder i'm serious
