GHD- Hair Straighteners- Are they "all that"? Are they worth the money. Are there any chea

I was looking at all the cheaper hair straighteners in tjhe Argos catalogue wondering if they were as good as GHDs. Are you just paying for the name with GHDs? Are there other, cheaper straighteners which are as good/ quick?.

(I have thick shoulder length hair)

i've tried several 'cheaper' one's - still 鎷?0 or so, and they just have not had the gorgeous results that my sister's, closely guarded, ghds have. i wished i'd bought 1 pair of ghds now, rather than 2 pairs that weren't as good. if anyone has found a cheap alternative, my bank manager would really like you :0)

i have remington ones and i would say they are just as good if not better!

I've tried other brands, but none compare to GHD's. They are expensive, but worth it. They are guaranteed too, so if anything goes wrong with them GHD are very good at replacing them. Well worth the investment.

well it depends on how cheap

I have a white revlon straightener that was only $25

from wal mart and it works wonders for my hair

which is thick and slightly wavy

GHD's are fairly good. But not as good as the chi. Get the chi ceramic hair straightener.Ceramic straighteners are better for your hair.

The chi is 150 dollars at target.

GHDs are great....if you had thinner hair, then I'd say to you buy a cheaper brand....however since you have thick hair, I'd definitely say they are worth the money. I really recommend GHDs.....there are no other brands that are just as good and quick AND cheaper.

I used to have some normal straighteners, but then I got some GHDs fo xmas.

They're definately much better and worth the money - it's easier to straighten and stays straighter for longer, too.

Although, Babyliss ones are probably the next best thing, i reckon.

Hope this helps =)

i dont know about Argos and GHDs. but i know that the more expensive the straightener the better. it's faster, more accurate, and dont cause split ends because they use better ions rather than just heat. even though a pro straightener would cost around $200, it's worth it. you'll use em for a longggg time and they're great when you're in a hurry. i even use my straightener to curl my hair, and it comes out perfectly. but it takes practice. the more expensive=the better the quality=better for your hair.

I think that with GHD's you are definitely paying for the name and I have heard lots of people say the same. I recently purchased a Babyliss Pro 230 Elegance 2088U and it is very very good. The usual retail price for these are 鎷?5.00 but Boots are having a sale so I managed to get them for 鎷?9.99. Boots have lots of hair straighteners on offer at the moment so it is worth having a look in there just to see if there are any that suit your needs

I haven't used hair straighteners in years, but at one time they used perm solution, which is hard on the hair and can cause damage. I would suggest one of those tourmaline hair-straightening irons. It's not permanent, but will do a good temporary job of straightening your hair. Just be careful not to get it too hot, and be careful not to kink the ends of your hair.

WELL I BUY THE CHEAP ONES,BUT THEY HAVE TO BE REPLACED SOONER THEN THE MORE EXPENSIVE ONES I WOULD SUGGEST IF YOU HAD THE MONEY TO GO TO A SALLY BEAUTY STORE AND ASK THE PERSON THERE B/C THEY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT I ALSO HAVE THICK HAVE TO THE MIDDLE OF MY BACK IT USUALLY TAKES ME A HOUR TO TOTALLY GET MY HAIR STRIGHT

tigi just brought out thier new flat iron. i love it. whatever you decide to go with make sure that it is ceramic and not metal. metal burns and rips the hair. also make sure that you use a smoothing product while flat ironing, you want it to burn the product and heat your hair. also you want to get one that goes up to 4oo degrees, you have thick hair and should use it on high, and only use one pass to straighten the hair. if it smokes as you go down the hair, its ok. it is burning the product and heating your hair. if you don't use a product, you will fry your hair the more you flat iron. i flat iron every day, and my hair still looks really healthy

GHD's are good in the short term. But if you use them over long periods of time without suitable protection, sometimes even with they do ruin your hair because they don't have temperature control. My hairdresser showed me straighteners called 'T3's' And they are infact better than GHD's. They have the same straightening quality and won't ruin your hair. They're much cheaper too.

They really are worth the money. I have thick curly hair and have had a few different straightners...but GHDs are probably the best ever. Its definetly worth the money.

I'd suggest the Babyliss pro too!!

I have long hair which is also thick and wavy - I've tried a few straighteners and have found none as good as these.

GHDs are the best that i have tried and i have had about 4 different brands of ceramic straightners.

Most cheaper brands stop working so well after about a year but i have had the GHDs for 2yr now and they are still as good as new.
