I went to salon to straighten my hair and it took about 4 hours, but I'd say the results are more professional.

once i did that about 3year ago and it made my curls looser but my hair has really tight curls . if you want looser curls and not make it straight yeah but its best to ask a professional first cause some of those relaxers will make your hair fall out and I've seen it happen so many times this is why i don't relax my hair
