chi is a bit over rated, try a straightening cream, marc anthony makes a good ones, but just about any company does, start with striaghtening shampoo and conditioner, this will prep your hair, then aplly the straightening cream to damp hair, (towel dry before you use) i dont use an iron i use a blowdryer, but african american hiar tends to have lots of volume, so a blowdryer could end up making it poofy, you could either get a straightener that does when to straight, or dry it all the way, then add straightening cream, then straighten it with the iron, use a little but of hairspray to tame the frizz, and it should be good, if that doesnt work, switch to a stronger conditioner, better iron, or a better strightening cream, talk to your hairstylist, they can recommend the best products for you hair type, and they dont have to be ones they sell at thier salon, ask what you can get at the drugstore thats good and not too pricey
