I have curly hair and i want to make it straight at times i want to buy a hair straightener... shoul

If you're going to straighten your hair, make sure you have the following:

1. A good shampoo and conditioner for dry hair (so it will replace what the straightening / ironing will take out in terms of moisture)

2. A good leave-in-conditioner for in-between straightening - good) to have in your hair overnight - dampen hair a little, rub enough in to soften it and start it re-curling and wash out in morning - this acts as a cheap hair-masque!

4. A good straightening balm - remember for these first three items, you don't need to buy the most expensive, highly advertised products, even something like sunsilk's straightening balm is good. Just read the instructions first to make sure you're using the right thing. Plus, remember, be sparing - you can always put a little more of this stuff in your hair but if you put too much in you'll have to wash it out, re-dry it and start again!

3. A good branded straightening iron - if you have curly hair, get one with combs in it. Speak to more than one hair-dresser - it's worth getting a variety of opinions - speak to hairdressers with the same type of hair as you - curly, thick etc - they'll know what's best. - but if they start recommending one they're selling in store, be careful not to get sucked in. Also, make sure you're careful about whether you get an iron / straightener that's a wet or dry one - some don't work with wet hair, others prefer hair to be wet!

4. Hairbands - do your hair in sections - starting from the hair on the back of the head down near the collar line. If your hair is thick, do one small section at a time - it takes time but it means it straightens better and stays straight for longer!

As for the straightener itself, try to get one with ceramic plates - however, I'd recommend for your FIRST straightener, get one that's not as expensive -that way you have one you can play with and travel with! Once used to it or if you think you're ready to upgrade, go for a more expensive one - ceramic plates, etc..
