depends what straightener...if its ceramic its heats up alot faster most of the time and it's BETTER for your hair then other straighteners (like i use chi which is ceramic) but also you can put on a hair cream stuff that helps your hair even more by protecting your hair from damage (i use some by loreal)....and really even blow drying,curling,crimping,even putting your head out a window of a car.....anything having to do with heat or really hard wind is bad for your hair....and before heat or wind styling your hair with anything you should use heat protectant!!good luck %26lt;33
