Temperature control: you should have an option of heat settings ranging in degrees rather than just 1-10

Size: A one-inch plate is much easier to maneuver than a larger one (plus, you can also curl or flip your ends with a one-inch)

However, if you're really decided to buy one, I would recommend you the vidal sasson steam hair straightener. Although it takes a long time for the hair to get straight when using this as compared to the other ordinary hair straightener, its still gentler to your hair since the heat it uses is the steam itself.

ok I have thick hair that is wavy and frizzy when not done. I use a jillbere titan. It is amazing, i can gat caught in the rain and my hai will stay straight. I also use a Redken balm that protects my hair from the heat of the straightner. I really recomend one from the jillbere line. It has settings from 1-40 and it's ceramic.
